TESTING BENCH
The main goal of this testing bench is to fulfill the comparative test (functional test and fatigue test) for overrunning automotive alternator pulleys. Each pulley during the test is mounted on the respective alternator using its original mounting kit. During the test (which is normally cyclic) the different phases of a real pulley operation in the car will be simulated, for example, rapid acceleration phase, sudden velocity variation, rapid deceleration and also the passive electric load, for example, due to conditioner switch-on.
For the passive electric load simulation, the special resistive load system was implemented which can be switched on and off automatically during the test cycle. It is possible to mount contemporary two pulleys (equivalent p/n and original p/n of first equipment). The testing bench is powered by the brushless motor with its controller which is managed by PC using field bus connection.
The control system and the data acquisition system is based on the USB DAQ board interfaced with the special digital IO interface boards. The testing system is equipped by two standard automotive alternators; each one is powered by its own automotive accumulator. Each working station (left and right) is equipped by one accelerometer an one pyrometer, so for each working station it is possible to measure the acceleration produced by the respective pulley and the temperature of the pulley during the work.
The test procedure is automatic and governed by the software program specially developed for this application. The acquired data were represented in real time on the PC monitor using GUI and in the same time were stored on HD of PC for the future analysis. The test bench is built following the CEE norms and has all necessary security and protection systems.
